New BLSA Executive Board Elections

Calling all BLSA members! The time has come for BLSA to elect a new executive board to replace the fabulous old one. We strongly encourage anyone interested to apply for a position! This is an excellent resume builder and is an integral part to promoting diversity at Chicago-Kent. The board positions available are:

*Community Service Chair

If you are interested in a position, but would like to know more about your duties, please do not hesitate to reach out to current board members!

Please send your statements of candidacy to Kelsey Cox ( by Friday, April 15th at 5:00pm.  Statements should be no more than 250 words and detail why you should be elected to that particular position. The list of candidates (and their statements) for you to vote on will be sent via email thatFriday evening and voting will conclude on Monday, April 18th at noon. Our new board will be announced Monday night and will aid in the event planning for the remainder of the semester!

BLSA is Teaming Up With SBA to Host Health Awareness Month in April!

Events include a Date Auction in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Stress Management Session, and Yoga. Be on the look out for more details!!

City-Wide Events

CCBA Job Fair: Resume Writing Workshop

The CCBA’s Minority Law Student Job Fair Committee will be hosting a resume-writing workshop on Saturday, April 2 at Jones Day located at 77 W. Wacker Drive, Chicago IL, 60601. The workshop will consist of a panel discussion followed by one on one resume review. Attendees will receive valuable insight about how they can make their resume stand out. I encourage everyone to attend this helpful seminar! Make sure to register by TODAY March 29th hereSee the attached flyer for more information!


Black Women Lawyers (Association of Los Angeles) Scholarships

BWL is providing scholarships to full-time law students in their 2nd or 3rd year and part-time students in their 3rd or 4th year who attend an accredited law school and intend to practice law in the Southern California Area. Scholarships typically range from $3,000-$5,000. Interviews will take place on April 30 or May 7, 2016. The essay topics focus on school discipline and prison. The Application deadline is Saturday April 16, 2016 and Scholarship recipients must attend the BWL scholarship luncheon on Saturday June 4, 2016. See the attached application for more information.
