Heather F. Harper

Attorney & Clinical Assistant Professor of Law

Heather Harper is a practicing attorney and professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law.  In 2012, she designed and launched the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic in the Law Offices of Chicago-Kent. Heather’s practice focuses on startup law issues, such as business transactional matters and intellectual property.  In addition to her practice, Heather teaches Entrepreneurship Law and Business Entity Formation.

Before joining the IIT Chicago-Kent faculty, Heather was a legal adviser to two local start-ups—a venture-backed company in the payments industry and an internet retailer that was number 94 on the Inc. 500 in 2009. Heather worked as a banking and financial transactions attorney at Sidley Austin LLP, where her practice focused on structured finance and commercial lending, and at Paul Hastings as a real estate attorney.

Heather graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Northwestern University with a B.A. in American studies and political science. She received her law degree from Boston College Law School, where she was elected to Order of the Coif.
