Margaret Miles

Community Service Chair

Chicago Engagement Chair

2022-2023

Graduation Year : 2024

We are thrilled to introduce Margaret Miles, who serves as our Community Service Chair for the 2022-2023 academic year!

Margaret is a rising 2L from Jersey. She has a passion for serving others locally and abroad. As a nontraditional student with work experience in insurance, healthcare, executive administration, nonprofit work, political engagement, legal support, and retail and small-business management, she is pursuing a legal career to synthesize these experiences to help make a positive impact on communities, especially communities of color.

Margaret is principally a public interest student with a focus on family law and child advocacy. In 2022, she was selected as a Bergstrom Fellow to participate in specialized training in child welfare law as a foundation for subsequent work in family defense and economic justice. Her goals as Community Service and Chicago Engagement Chair are to keep abreast of community service opportunities, host local speakers, organize local cultural trips and community service projects, seek out pro bono hours opportunities to satisfy curriculum requirements, and advocate for Black representation at Kent and in the Chicagoland area. She is also a member of the Christian Legal Society as well as the Environmental Law Society. If there was a quote to sum up her life experience so far, it would be “Keep Moving Forward.”

You can reach her at mharrold@kentlaw.iit.edu with questions, concerns, or to just chat about law school life.
