This 2021 Diversity Week panel discussion with keynote Justice Jesse G. Reyes will address the unique position of first-generation law students and professionals.

Justice Reyes will speak regarding support systems and opportunities for diverse law students and about the importance of first-generation visibility in the profession.

Law student panelists will provide personal insight into their experiences as first-gen law students.

Justice Reyes is the current President of the Diversity Scholarship Foundation, an organization providing support, mentorship, and financial assistance to diverse law school students. He is also part of the “A Law Carte” legal panel series geared toward supporting first-generation students as they navigate their careers. Justice Reyes is currently a Justice on the Illinois Appellate Court, First District, and has been a member of the judiciary since 1997.
