Javier Ortega was born and raised in Havana, Cuba and has lived in the United States since 2004. Although his interest resides in the fields of Data Privacy and Cybersecurity, Javier was once detained in a facility in a Texas border town when he immigrated to the United States.

He was fortunate to take advantage of the then-in-place “wet foot, dry foot policy” that applied to all Cuban immigrants. He hopes that what little legal help he has to offer benefits those detained at the facility.
