Hello! My name is Jocelyn Rodriguez, and I was born and raised in Illinois. I am currently a 1L at Chicago-Kent College of Law.

I am a first-generation college graduate and law school student. I am also the daughter of two first-generation immigrants. My community growing up consisted of families like my own, heavily influenced by 1st and 2nd generation immigrants. I saw firsthand the impact one’s immigration status can have on their life and the life of their loved ones.

After undergrad, I began working at an immigration law firm, where I worked hands-on on aiding various families and individuals secure their immigration status. I hope to be able to practice immigration law after graduation and throughout my legal career.

Sidenote: one of my favorite readings growing up was “The House on Mango Street” by Sandra Cisnero.
