Stephen Brown

2013-2014: Associate Editor, Cases and Controversies Editor

Biography: 

Stephen Brown is a 3L at Chicago-Kent. While at Kent, Stephen has spent his time volunteering at the Chicago Kent Self-Help desk and interning for Judge David Atkins. In addition to contributing to JICL, Stephen is also a member of the International Moot Court Honors Society, placing as a quarterfinalist in last year’s Niagara tournament. Currently, Stephen is abroad in Paris, France, studying European law at Paris II – Panthéon Assas.

Blake Kocian

Biography:

Blake a 3L here at Kent. Before law school Blake studied Economics at Saint Louis University. He was also a 4 year member of the NCAA swim team at Saint Louis University. He currently is working part time at Jayaram Law Group, an intellectual property and general business litigation firm. When he is not working or studying, he likes to play golf, painfully cheer on his Cubbies, and stay active playing any sport he can.

Biography: 

Samantha Gaul graduated with honors from the University of South Florida, where she earned her B.A. in Professional and Technical writing and a minor in Political Science. As a 1L, Sam served as a student representative for the International Law Students Association and as an Associate Editor for the Journal of International and Comparative Law.

The summer following her 1L year, Sam worked as a judicial extern for the Honorable John C. Griffin in Cook County Law Division/Commercial Calendar. She now works as a law clerk at a boutique commercial litigation firm.

In addition to serving as the Managing Editor for the Journal of International and Comparative Law, Sam is a member of the Chicago-Kent Law Review and Moot Court Honor Society.

Ana Cristina Carrera

2013-2014: Associate Editor

Biography:

Ana Cristina Carrera was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned her B.A. in Political Science and Latin American Studies and a minor in Hispanic Studies.

As a 2L, Ana Cristina served as the Secretary for the Hispanic Latino Law Student Association and as an Associate Editor for the Journal of International and Comparative Law.

Finally, Ana Cristina will be completing her last year of law school at Panthéon-Assas University, in Paris, France, graduating with an LLM in European Law and a JD from Chicago-Kent College of Law in May 2015.

Tanya Ruderman

I earned my undergraduate degrees from DePaul University majoring in Psychology, with a concentration in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and Communications, with a concentration in mass media systems; I also earned a minor in International Politics. At Chicago-Kent, I serve as an Executive Articles Editor for the Journal of International and Comparative Law and am currently in the process of founding a new publication, the Chicago-Kent Journal of Media Law. I am currently working as a law clerk for Jac A. Cotiguala & Associates, a small labor and employment firm specializing in wage and hour law.

Asha George

Asha Sairah George is a 3L at Chicago Kent where she is pursuing a certificate in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution.  At Chicago-Kent, Ms. George is on the board of the SATYAM Journal and the Journal of International and Comparative Law.  She is also very involved with the South Asian Law Student Association and the Kent Justice Foundation.  Throughout her time in law school, Ms. George has interned for the Honorable Michael P. Toomin, Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Justice Division of the Cook County Juvenile Court, for the Special Litigation Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, for the Employment Law and Mediation Clinics at Chicago Kent, and for the Honorable Margo K. Brodie in the Eastern District of New York.  She is currently working for Children’s Rights and The Legal Aid Society in New York.  Upon graduation, Ms. George hopes to work in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Child Protection.
