IPLS
Ever wonder why today’s top musicians, including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande, routinely face copyright lawsuits? Or why the likes of Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, and Robin Thicke have recently been found liable for copyright infringement?
In this talk, Professor Edward Lee explains the copyright predicament musicians now face and the help the fair use doctrine may provide. Lee discusses his experimental study that showed fair use resulted in greater findings of no liability than a contestation of the test of substantial similarity.
Join IPLS on Tuesday, February 25, at noon in Room 510 to hear Professor Lee present his paper on Copyright Fair Use in music cases.
