Career Services Presents: Why Mindset Matters in Law School, in Practice, and Beyond – February 5. Grades have come out, and for some of you, the disappointment may be sinking in. Come learn about the concept of mindset and how it influences the way we learn and how we respond to successes and challenges in law school. The concept, developed from an extensive body of educational psychology research by Stanford professor Carol Dweck, focuses on how success can be dramatically influenced by how we perceive our most basic qualities, such as our abilities or talent. Professor Young will take a closer look into two mindsets from Dweck’s findings by discussing the underlying beliefs about intelligence that can affect the overall law school experience. She will also offer strategies law students can use to cultivate a growth mindset for law school and professional success.
