Student Organizations
APALSA Bring-Your-Own-Lunch Tuesdays: Join APALSA every Tuesday at 12PM on the 6th Floor for lunch! Our first one will be on September 6th. All members are welcome, and at least one APALSA board member will be present each week. Whether you want someone to talk to, rant to, or just eat with, we will be there. Note: the 6th floor has one big room with a lot of seating areas on the opposite side of the bathrooms. You will see it as soon as you get off the elevator!
Chicago Bar Association (CBA): The Chicago Bar Association is the place for law students seeking to build a legal career in the Chicagoland area. Discover practice areas, practice settings and get a glimpse of day-to-day life as a lawyer through our mentoring and shadowing programs. Student members meet lawyers and judges from all backgrounds and create relationships that may lead to mentors and future employers. Our active Young Lawyers Section has educational and social events specifically geared to new lawyers (that are fun, too!). For only $12 per year you can get started on your path to becoming a lawyer. Visit jspellman)
CBA Law Student Back-to-School Bash: All Chicago area law students are invited to join us for a Law Student Back-to-School Bash on September 15 at 5:00 p.m. at the Plymouth Restaurant Rooftop (located right next to the CBA). Free for law student members, $20 for nonmembers. Space is limited, so make your reservation early here: jspellman).
Chicago-Kent Journal of Intellectual Property (JIP):
Christian Legal Society: Christian Legal Society will be having an informal meet and greet on Friday September 9th from 12pm-1pm at Epic Burger at 550 W. Adams. Stop by and meet current and future CLS members and learn more about our organization. This event is not sponsored by Epic Burger.
CK Lambdas: Join CK Lambdas for our first event of the year at Second Story Bar on Friday, September 9th, 6pm-8pm! Second Story Bar, located at 157 E Ohio St #2, Chicago, IL 60611 is a queer bar that has been around for 35+ years. Grab a drink, meet and chat with Lambdas’ board, and get to know other members!
KJF Open Bar Party: Kent Justice Foundation will be hosting a series of events this Fall, culminating in an end-of-semester party. The 1L section that gets the most points in the fundraising events will get free admission to that party (but all students are free to participate in all of the events).
Our first event will be a 2 hour OPEN BAR happy hour at Ranalli’s West Loop from 6-8pm on Thursday, September 15. Tickets are just $35/pp and include specialty cocktails, mixed drinks, beer, and wine. The 1L section with the highest turnout will win points towards the end-of-semester party! Tickets can be purchased through this FORM.
National Lawyers Guild: The National Lawyers Guild is the only bar association that is open not only to lawyers and law students, but to legal employees and even incarcerated people representing themselves pro se. This makes the Guild one of the most effective leftist law coalitions catering to movement lawyering. The Guild offers law students the opportunity to accrue service hours by legal observing at protests, leading community trainings to help teach the community their rights during encounters with law enforcement, and countless other pro bono opportunities around the city to benefit both the legal community and the community at large. The Guild is also an unparalleled opportunity to meet likeminded law students and legal professionals, boasting a huge network with branches throughout the city. The CK-student chapter of the Lawyers Guild can help you do well throughout law school and your career while also pointing you towards the ways you can do good!
Slavic Law Student Association: The Slavic Law Student Association and Themis Bar Review are co-sponsoring a happy hour, and we would love for you to attend. All students are welcome, regardless of membership!
Date: Thursday, September 29, 2022
Time: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Location: Taco Lulú, 601 West Adams Street, Chicago, Illinois 60661.

The First-Generation Law Student Association (First-Gen): First-Gen seeks to bridge the success gap for students who are the first in their families to attend law school. We serve as a resource for first-gen law students by hosting learning events, facilitating networking opportunities, and being a forum for free discussion on topics that affect first-generation law students. Sign-up as a First-Gen member firstgen for more information.
Workplace Law Welcome Back & Info Session: Thursday, September 8th @ 4:00pm-5:30pm in Room C20.
