Announcements
Spring 2023 Judicial Externship Program: On Tuesday, October 4, at 12 p.m., via Zoom, Professor Gross will conduct an informational meeting for students interested in participating in the Spring 2023 Judicial Externship Program. Some recent judicial externs will be attending the informational meeting to give you their perspective. If you wish to be added to the calendar invite, please email Suzanne Blaz.
Applications for Spring 2023 Judicial Externships will be available electronically by Friday, September 16, 2022, on Symplicity and the sblaz) by Friday, October 14, 2022.
Conviser Law Center Dedication Ceremony: Chicago-Kent’s home, 565 West Adams Street, has been renamed Conviser Law Center in recognition of Professor Richard Conviser’s lifelong service to Chicago-Kent and the legal community. To commemorate this profound moment in the school’s history, there will be a community celebration in honor of Professor Conviser on September 29 at 4:00 p.m. at Conviser Law Center.
Please join other students, faculty, staff, and Chicago-Kent alumni for this very special event. It would mean a lot to Professor Conviser to see as many current Chicago-Kent students there as possible. For more information and to register, please visit here.
1L Mandatory CSO Orientation: The Career Services Office will on Tuesday, September 13th be having a mandatory 1L Orientation from 12:00pm-1:25pm (Day 1Ls) in the auditorium and 5:00pm-6:00pm (Evening 1Ls) in C40. 1Ls will meet with their assigned counselors for the first time and learn about upcoming opportunities.
Yoga in the Fitness Center: There will be yoga in the fitness center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am-10:00am throughout the semester. Yoga mats and blocks will be provided!
Student Organization Leadership: If you are part of leadership for an organization and have not received an email or signed up for leadership training, we will consider the organization defunct unless you fill out the SBA Leadership Contact Info Form and RSVP for the Leadership Training by September 14.
The Leadership Training will be this Sunday, September 18th from 12-1:30pm in Room C20
New Organization Requests: If you are planning to form a new organization, please reach out to the SBA with bylaws, a faculty advisor (optional) and preliminary executive board membership. New student organizations can be considered throughout the year, but if you would like to be included for leadership training, you will need to let us know by September 14.
November Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE): The November MPRE will be administered on November 14th or 15th. The MPRE is required for licensure in all jurisdictions except Wisconsin. You may take it after you sit for the bar exam but I would encourage you to take it prior if possible since you cannot get sworn in until you’ve passed it. Most students take the exam after they take Professional Responsibility at CK, in their 2nd semester 2L year, or sometime during their 3L year.
The exam costs $150 and the deadline to register is WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2022.
Please visit NCBEX for registration information and/or to register for the exam.
While it’s helpful to have taken Professional Responsibility prior to the exam, it’s not required. Most commercial bar companies provide FREE MPRE review workshops that include outlines, a lecture, and practice questions. Please stop by 310B with questions or if you need an MPRE outline book.

All members are welcome, and at least one APALSA board member will be present each week. Whether you want someone to talk to, rant to, or just eat with, we will be there. Note: the 6th floor has one big room with a lot of seating areas on the opposite side of the bathrooms. You will see it as soon as you get off the elevator!

This walk will celebrate his life and bring us all together to fight suicide.
You can sign up to join or donate to our team here. Please note that donations can only be made to individual team members, but the donations go towards our overall team goal.
If you have any questions, please email Margaret Harrold at mharrold

For only $12 per year you can get started on your path to becoming a lawyer. Visit jspellman)

Tickets can be purchased through this FORM.
National Lawyers Guild: The National Lawyers Guild is the only bar association that is open not only to lawyers and law students, but to legal employees and even incarcerated people representing themselves pro se. This makes the Guild one of the most effective leftist law coalitions catering to movement lawyering. The Guild offers law students the opportunity to accrue service hours by legal observing at protests, leading community trainings to help teach the community their rights during encounters with law enforcement, and countless other pro bono opportunities around the city to benefit both the legal community and the community at large. The Guild is also an unparalleled opportunity to meet likeminded law students and legal professionals, boasting a huge network with branches throughout the city. The CK-student chapter of the Lawyers Guild can help you do well throughout law school and your career while also pointing you towards the ways you can do good!
Racial Equity and Advocacy Alliance: If you’re looking to get more involved with the Racial Equity and Advocacy Alliance, join us as a 1L Representative! As a 1L Rep, you will serve as a liaison between your respective section and the REAA executive board.
