Yasmin Alford
President
2024-2025
“Law school is hard enough, and we all need a listening ear or advice at times to persevere.”
Yasmin “Yaz” Alford is a 3L here at Chicago-Kent. She is a hard-working, humble, empathetic, and communicative individual. She is a Chicagoland native passionate about advocating for the underserved. Yasmin completed her undergraduate degree at DePaul University, with a major in Finance and a minor in Accounting.
Before law school, she worked in the freight industry. Despite her natural prowess for logistics, she moved forward with her dream of becoming a lawyer; her qualities of resilience and self-determination drove her to do so.
She has a passion for plaintiff-side Employment law, currently working as a Law Clerk at Caffarelli and Associates. She is also serving as Treasurer of the Labor and Employment Law Society. After graduation, she hopes to go into the Employment law sector, specifically fighting for the rights of workers who have been wronged.
As BLSA President she hopes to be a source of support for Chicago Kent’s black students, providing mentorship opportunities and resources to get through the rigors of law school.
