Ashley Surinak | Executive Articles Editor
Ashley was born and raised in Naperville, Illinois. She graduated summa cum laude from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minor in Psychology. Two weeks after graduating from DePaul, Ashley moved to Southeast Asia for two years where she built and grew a content and email marketing business remotely while living primarily in Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Upon her return to Chicago, Ashley worked closely with her father, an attorney based in DuPage County, and learned the foundational basics of law leading up to the beginning of law school.
During her 1L summer, Ashley worked for a family law attorney and former State’s Attorney in DuPage County. She also worked as a research assistant for Distinguished Professor Katharine K. Baker, where she contributed to research on assisted reproductive technology and the shifting definition of what it means to be a “parent.” In the fall semester of her 2L year, Ashley participated in the externship program at Beermann LLP, where she remained for the spring semester and her 2L summer.
In addition to being an Executive Articles Editor for Law Review, Ashley will participate in the Ian Fletcher International Insolvency Moot Court competition this year. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys all things active—lifting weights, running along the lake, and yoga.
