Announcements

This is the last newsletter of the Semester. We wish everyone the best of luck on Finals!

U-Pass: Students will have an opportunity to opt-in for the U-Pass for Summer. Watch your inbox over the coming weeks for more details!

C-K Law Group – Fall Semester: Work under the supervision of an attorney to gain legal experience in addition to earning law school credit!! Applications for the fall semester are now available: https://www.kentlaw.iit.edu/academics/jd-program/practical-skills-training/legal-clinics/legal-clinic-application

The Chicago-Kent Law Review will be hosting FIVE LIVE Zoom sessions for interested and eligible students to learn more about the function and benefits of joining Law Review. During these sessions, we will cover Bluebook basics as well as how to approach the summer write-on process. All sessions will be held via Zoom and you do not need to attend more than one session. Please see the attached flyer for the meeting links.

  • As a reminder, the following students will automatically be invited to join the Chicago-Kent Law Review based on their academic performance:

    • Full-time day division students who have completed their first year and rank in the top 7% of the full-time day division class

    • Evening division and part-time day division students who have completed their first year and rank in the top 7% of the combined evening division and part-time day division class

    • Evening division and part-time day division students who have completed their second year and rank within the top 7% of the combined class of first-year day students and second-year evening and part-time day students

    • An additional method for joining Law Review is through participation in the Summer Candidacy Program. Because the Law Review is no longer requiring applicants to meet a minimum cumulative GPA, the Summer Candidacy Program will begin before Spring 2021 grades are released. This is a change from past years. This means that first-year rankings will not be available prior to the start of the write-on process. For this reason, everyone is encouraged to participate in the Summer Candidacy Program regardless of the potential to fall within the top 7%.

  • If there are any questions or concerns, please reach out to the incoming Executive Notes & Comments Editor, Elizabeth Jedrasek (ejedrasek), or refer to ยง 1.12 of the Student Handbook for more information about eligibility requirements.

  • Remaining Dates for Informational Sessions

    • 5/16 2:00

    • 5/19 6:00

Resources

Writing Competitions

From ASP:

From the Library:

  • 2021 Summer and Post-Grad Access to Westlaw, Lexis & Bloomberg

  • The library has created a resource guide for APALSA and our Asian community, in light of recent events. Students may access the guide here.

  • As part of the Chicago-Kent Law Library’s mission to support the needs of faculty, students, and staff of the law school, our newest library guide highlights resources to support the work being done to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Chicago-Kent: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Resources. In the guide, find links to books, specialized digital collections, study guides, and journals, with many titles you can access digitally through our collections even if you’re not visiting our library in person or requesting books via I-Share at this time. You’ll also find recommendations for antiracism books and authors to support the ongoing work of the Chicago-Kent Antiracism Statement from 2020.

  • We hope you’ll review the resources and use the CK Suggests page if you have suggestions, reviews, or content you’d like to see in the guide in the future.

Housing/Sublease Spreadsheet:

  • Northwestern Law started a sublease spreadsheet for people looking to lease their apartment over the summer. The spreadsheet is being shared with all the Chicago area law schools. Students can feel free to add their apartments if they need a renter, or this is a good place to look if any students need a place just for the summer during their internship.
