A Christian baker who specializes in baking creative, customized wedding cakes declined to create a customized wedding cake for a same-sex wedding because doing so conflicted with his religious beliefs. This case presents two conflicting principles: (1) the baker’s right to speak and refrain from speaking in ways that conflict with his religious beliefs and (2) the same-sex couple’s right to be free from sexual orientation discrimination.

The debate will feature Jordan Lorence, senior counsel of the Alliance Defending Freedom representing the baker’s side. Prof. Steven Heyman, renowned legal scholar on free speech from Chicago-Kent, will represent the side of accomodation for the same-sex couple.

Includes a free lunch! Don’t miss out. Tuesday, October 31st, Noon. Room to be determined.
