SBA Spring 2020 Elections!

Interested in being part of the Student Bar Association (SBA)? Want to get more involved? SBA Elections are coming up!

The deadlines are below. All positions are open – President, Day Vice President, Evening Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, American Bar Association Representative, Chicago Bar Association Representative, Illinois State Bar Association Representative, and Class Representative. *Day Division has four representative positions and Evening Division has two representative positions.

Please see the list of all positions and their descriptions. The elections are governed by Article III of the SBA Bylaws. Copies of both documents are attached. Also attached is the Campaign Petition that each candidate must submit. Typically, the petition must be signed by students along with their student ID number.

Due to the current circumstances, this process will be entirely digital and candidates must make a public Google Doc that will allow students to enter their name and ID numbers for themselves. The petitions are due by Friday, April 10th at 5pm and they must be closed from any further editing before being submitted to the Election Chairs. Failure to adhere to this will be grounds for disqualification. In order to submit the petitions, share them directly with Noor Abdulmassih (nabdulmassih), Mike McGee (mmcgee1), and Emily Barney (ebarney).

Below is the Election timeline. Be sure to adhere to the following:

  • Tuesday, April 7th: Election Petitions Released
  • Friday, April 10th: Election Petitions Due by 5pm
  • Monday, April 6th: Campaigning Begins at 8am
  • Wednesday, April 8th: Voting Opens
