Mary Rose Strubbe Labor & Employment Law Writing Competition: Manuscripts are being accepted for the Mary Rose Strubbe Labor & Employment Law Writing Prize at strubbeprize. The deadline is May 13, 2022. The award is $5,000. Details are included in the flier below.

Legal Externship Program: All Summer Legal Externship Program applications are due on or before Monday, May 2, 2022, and Summer Judicial Externship Program (if you secured your own) by Tuesday, May 3, 2022. Join Claire Finkelstein, Algernon Biddle Professor of Law and Professor of Philosophy, University of Pennsylvania, as she addresses this topic. This program is presented by the Center for National Security and Human Rights Law.

ABA Writing Competition: The goal of the Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law student writing contest is to encourage and reward law student writing on the subjects of real property or trust and estate law. It is designed to attract students to these law specialties, and to encourage scholarship and interest in these areas. Articles submitted for judging are encouraged to be of timely topics and have not been previously published. This contest is open to all J.D. and LL.M students currently attending an ABA-accredited law school.

See the official contest rules and entry form for details. Entries must be received by the Section no later than May 31, 2022.

Prizes include:

  • Award money of $1,000 – $2,500

  • A full-tuition scholarship to the University of Miami School of Law’s Heckerling Graduate Program in Estate Planning OR Robert Traurig-Greenberg Traurig Graduate Program in Real Property Development for the 2022–2023 or 2023-2024 academic year. *

  • Free round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations to the next in person RPTE meeting. This is an excellent meeting to network with RPTE leadership!

  • 1 year of free RPTE membership

  • Consideration for publication in The Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Journal, the Section’s law review journal, which is mailed to 18,000 RPTE members.

  • Name and essay title will be published in the eReport, the Section’s electronic newsletter

Chicago-Kent Law Review: The Chicago-Kent Law Review’s Summer Write-On Program will be from May 29nd, 2022, to June 12th, 2022. Please note the date change! More information is forthcoming, but save the date. We will hold three informational sessions before the Write-On.
