ConneKtions @ Dinner is Back! ConneKtions @ Dinner is an opportunity for alumni and students to get together and learn more about one another. Additionally, it is a chance for students to learn about the day-to-day life of a lawyer and discuss other pressing questions about the law. From October 16-23, Chicago-Kent alumni will host a student or group of students for dinner at a day, time, and location predetermined. Students will select alumni based on their availability. Today For CK! The Advancement Department is looking for a few students to help out during our annual event "Today For CK!". Today for CK is a giving day that helps spread awareness and raise money for various programs around the school. Today for CK will be held on Thursday, October 6. We ask that you participate in at least a 2-hour shift, and you can choose the time you want to participate. We will be in the lobby from 9am-6pm. Here are a few ways students will be helping the advancement team on giving day

students will craft thank-you notes to donors in appreciation of their generosity.

students will call alumni and remind them of giving day and the importance of their support

students will record a video message sharing the importance of giving to scholarships, student orgs, and faculty support that will be shared via social media.

Fundamentals of Banking Law: Chicago-Kent College of Law is pleased to sponsor Fundamentals of Banking Law (formerly Banking Law Basics) on November 9-10, 2022, an intensive 2-day program designed to familiarize participants with the basics of bank regulatory law, including the critical policies, concepts, and regulations that have shaped banking law over the years.

The Law Lab: Learn about the Law Lab and Chicago-Kent’s legal innovation and technology program. Students will learn about available courses in the Legal Innovation & Technology Certificate Program. Students will also learn about career development in positions across the legal industry that leverage legal technology.

Spring 2023 Judicial Externship Program: On Tuesday, October 4, at 12 p.m., via Zoom, Professor Gross will conduct an informational meeting for students interested in participating in the Spring 2023 Judicial Externship Program. Some recent judicial externs will be attending the informational meeting to give you their perspective. If you wish to be added to the calendar invite, please email Suzanne Blaz.

Yoga in the Fitness Center: There will be yoga in the fitness center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am-10:00am throughout the semester. Yoga mats and blocks will be provided!

Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA): Come hangout with APALSA and try our tasty Asian and American treats!!
APALSA Bring-Your-Own-Lunch Tuesdays: Join APALSA every Tuesday at 12PM on the 6th Floor for lunch! All members are welcome, and at least one APALSA board member will be present each week. Whether you want someone to talk to, rant to, or just eat with, we will be there. Note: the 6th floor has one big room with a lot of seating areas on the opposite side of the bathrooms. You will see it as soon as you get off the elevator!
Brown Bag Lunch w/ Sharone Mitchell: The National Lawyers Guild, BLSA, KJF, CLS, and the Public Interest Center are co-sponsoring a brown bag lunch with Sharone Mitchell, the Cook County public defender on Tuesday, October 4th. Please see the flyer below for details.
Chicago Bar Association (CBA): The Chicago Bar Association is the place for law students seeking to build a legal career in the Chicagoland area. Discover practice areas, practice settings and get a glimpse of day-to-day life as a lawyer through our mentoring and shadowing programs. Student members meet lawyers and judges from all backgrounds and create relationships that may lead to mentors and future employers. Our active Young Lawyers Section has educational and social events specifically geared to new lawyers (that are fun, too!). LURE and ELS Happy Hour: LURE and ELS are hosting our first joint happy hour on Thursday, October 13th from 6:00pm-7:30pm at City Social! Join us for free drinks and bites, and to meet other members! Please RSVP here.
Non-Perishable Food Drive: NLG and ILS are teaming up with Enlace Chicago, a local organization to collect non-perishable food for the migrants that Governor Perry continues to bus from Texas.
Through Friday, 10/7 there will be a box setup on the first floor near the security booth/elevators for non-perishable food to be dropped off.

The organization’s current focus is on expansion and investment in its members by creating opportunities to network with other law school students and professionals of South Asian descent within the legal community. The organization is committed to community service work, involvement with the Indian American Bar Association, and continued assistance of the South Asian community in need of legal aid.
