Sandra graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Political Science and Psychology. While in undergrad, she was a teaching assistant for introductory courses in Environmental Science, Physics, Sociology, and Theatre and Society. During her 1L year, she served as a student representative for the Hispanic Latino Law Student Association (HLLSA), volunteered at the Self-Help Web Center, and traveled to New Orleans to serve as a volunteer law clerk for the Orleans Public Defenders. The summer following her 1L year, she worked for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Currently, Sandra works as a judicial extern for the Honorable Franklin U. Valderrama in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Chancery Division.
