Position Descriptions

Editorial Board

Editor-in-Chief
  • Oversees and manages the day-to-day activities of the Journal.
  • Plans and conducts meetings for the Journal.
  • Interfaces with school administration and the Student Bar Association.
  • Assists and coordinates between the other Editorial Board members as needed.
  • Helps coordinate with the rest of the Editorial Board to schedule and attend recruiting events.
  • Conducts final review of articles published by the Journal.
  • Formats the articles for publication and relays them to the Staff Managing Editor for publication.
Managing Editor
  • Assists the Editor-in-Chief in managing the day-to-day activities of the Journal.
  • Makes sure that article submissions are reviewed by either a Submissions Editor or the Editorial Board.
  • Assists with the editing process as necessary.
  • Helps the Editor-in-Chief conduct staff general body and onboarding meetings.
  • Tracks article submissions, staff assignments, and article reviews.
  • Assists in sending offers to publish authors’ articles.
  • Checks staff edits before sending the edited articles back to the authors.
PTAB Managing Editor
Staff Managing Editor
  • Develops spreadsheets and Google forms to track the onboarding progress of all staff.
  • Tracks staff progress on completing onboarding items and follows up with staff members as needed.
  • Checks the article submission portal for new articles received, downloads new submissions, and updates the tracking spreadsheet.
  • Reviews newly received articles as needed and provides feedback to the Editorial Board.
  • Spot-checks articles edited by staff.
  • Sends finalized articles to the library for publishing.
  • Oversees student submission process of notes, blog posts, and book reviews with the PTAB Managing Editor.

Staff

Submission Editor
  • Performs preliminary reviews of article submissions and reports back to the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor.
  • Attends and participates in training meetings, general membership meetings, and any other necessary meetings.
Executive Article Editor
  • Supervises and assists Associate Editors in editing assigned articles.
  • Ensures that all edits conform to the style, citation, and publishing standards outlined by the Journal and in the Bluebook®.
  • Attends and participates in training meetings, general membership meetings, and any other necessary meetings.
Web Editor 
  • Oversees and creates new website content.
  • Edits and publishes blog posts and book reviews written by staff members.
  • Recommends to the Executive Board materials to be published on the website.
  • Maintains the Journal’s social media profiles.
  • Attends and participates in training meetings, general membership meetings, and any other necessary meetings.
Associate Editor
  • Edits articles to be published under the supervision of the Executive Article Editor.
  • Ensures that all edits conform to the style, citation, and publishing standards outlined by the Journal and in the Bluebook®.
  • Attends and participates in training meetings, general membership meetings, and any other necessary meetings.
